The building continues - at the end of last week, the wall between the 2 garage spaces was up to about eye level. Yesterday, the wall was built right to the roof and the sliding door was installed. Today the guys plastered the "garage" side of the wall. They should finish plastering the "studio" side tomorrow, and then it's onto bricking up the original back-room door.
I've decided to polish or varnish the concrete floor - the hard reflective surface should be good for recording, and I can always get a carpet or rug in to deaden it if it's too much. I also got a quote today for a DIY acoustic paneling kit (see
www.acousticpanels.co.za). They supply the kit with self-adhesive, but I think I want to put rails along the walls - that way I can attach and detach the panels according to what type of sound I want to get. I will likely stick panels to the ceiling permanently, but I'll have to see how the place sounds first.
